The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is designed to give individuals more control over their personal data. Enterprise Ireland became subject to the GDPR on the 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive. Under the GDPR, all organisations in Ireland that process the personal data of living individuals must work to protect that data, only use it for specific named purposes and account to those individuals for the organisation’s use of their data.
